Visit Tour

A Healthy Smile Starts with a Positive First Experience

Choosing a dentist for your child is an important decision, and we're honored you're considering Kid Friendly Dentistry. Our goal is to make your child's first visit comfortable, educational, and enjoyable while helping you feel informed and confident every step of the way.

We believe that positive dental experiences during childhood build the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles.

When Should My Child First Visit the Dentist?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends scheduling your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months after the first tooth appears—whichever comes first.

These early visits allow us to:

  • Monitor healthy growth and development

  • Identify dental concerns early

  • Discuss feeding and nutrition

  • Provide guidance on brushing and fluoride

  • Help your child become comfortable with the dental office

Early dental visits are about prevention, education, and building trust—not just treating problems.

What to Expect During the First Visit

Our first priority is helping your child feel comfortable.

Depending on your child’s age and comfort level, the first visit may include:

  • A gentle examination of the teeth, gums, and oral tissues

  • Evaluation of growth and development

  • Cavity risk assessment

  • Dental cleaning

  • Fluoride treatment

  • Digital X-rays if needed

  • Personalized oral hygiene instruction

  • Discussion of nutrition, fluoride, habits, and injury prevention

Every child is different, and we always adjust the visit to your child’s age and individual needs.

Helping Your Child Feel Comfortable

We understand that every child responds differently to new experiences. Our team takes the time to:

  • Introduce your child to the office at their own pace

  • Explain each step using child-friendly language

  • Encourage questions from both parents and children

  • Celebrate every milestone—big or small

Our goal is to help every child leave with a smile and look forward to coming back.

How Parents Can Prepare?

A little preparation can make a big difference.

We recommend:

  • Scheduling appointments earlier in the day whenever possible

  • Talking positively about visiting the dentist

  • Avoiding words such as “shot,” “hurt,” or “pain”

  • Allowing your child to bring a favorite toy or comfort item

  • Completing your new patient forms before your appointment

Most importantly, stay relaxed. Children often take their emotional cues from their parents.

Celebrate a Great First Visit

Every child deserves to feel proud after visiting the dentist. Before heading home, your child can choose a special toy, receive a balloon, and enjoy a sugar-free lollipop—our way of celebrating a job well done.
